STATE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS &

THIRD PARTY ADVOCACY

THE MOA KEY PERSON PROGRAM is critical to the success of any and all legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of Maryland optometry, optometrists and optometric patients.

The Program matches optometrists with their representation in the Maryland General Assembly to develop and foster relationships with key legislators who have the potential to impact the profession. It delivers information, guidance and resources to these policymakers and other decision makers, regulators and State Offices; advocating for scenarios that meet ophthalmic patients' and providers' needs. Key Person advocacy activities include meeting with State officials, attending legislative hearings, participating on a State task force or coalition, delivery of MOA public health outreach or eye and vision health awareness; just to name a few. It is important to remember that GRASSROOTS, defined as "social organization,” is the key to successful advocacy. There is strength in numbers and without robust and enthusiastic member participation in the Key Person Program, advocacy efforts will not succeed. This Program and YOUR INVOLVEMENT is critical to ensure our legislative successes and optometry's future in Maryland. Please get involved now by contacting the MOA KeyPerson Chair, Dr. Kevin Johnson (pictured top right)
